unBelievable | Week One

Services: April 24th & 27th

Welcome Prompt:

Welcome, friends! This week, we’re diving into a question that echoes across time: Where did everything come from? More than a scientific debate, this is about the story behind our existence and the God who speaks through creation. The truth is, we don’t have to abandon reason to believe in God—we’re invited to worship the One who makes sense of it all. Let’s explore together the miracle of our beginning and the purpose it reveals for today.

Opening Prayer Prompt:

“Creator God, thank You for revealing Yourself through the beauty and order of creation. As we study Your Word and consider the world You’ve made, help us to see Your fingerprints in every miracle. Give us clarity, wonder, and a renewed sense of worship. Draw our hearts to trust You more deeply and share Your truth boldly. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Purpose of our Small Groups at Real Life:

At Real Life, our small groups are designed to help people grow in spiritual maturity in relationship. As disciples of Jesus, we seek inward transformation—becoming more like Christ in how we think, love, and live. This leads to outward fruit that is both relational and missional: living on purpose with Jesus in every part of life.

Group Guideline:

This is a Safe Group: This week’s message reminds us how bold it is to believe in a Creator in a world that often says otherwise. That’s why it’s essential this group is a safe place. Let’s create an environment where honest questions, doubts, and awe can be expressed without fear of judgment.

Fun Icebreaker Question:

If you created the world, what would you have done differently?

Main Idea from the Sermon:

The universe is not an accident—it’s a miracle pointing to a Creator who is powerful, intelligent, and deeply personal.

Main Passage:

Genesis 1:1 – “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

Also consider: Colossians 1:16–17, Psalm 19:1–4, Romans 1:18–21

Head Level Questions:

  1. What do you notice about how Genesis 1:1 introduces God? How does it set the tone for the rest of Scripture?
  2. What does Psalm 19:1–4 tell us about creation?
  3. Why do many scientists now say the universe had a beginning—and how does that align with biblical teaching?
  4. What belief about human origin or creation do you come across most often? How do you interact with people with differing viewpoints?

Heart Level Questions:

  1. When have you been in awe of creation? What do you believe about God in those moments?
  2. How do moments of awe in creation lead to deeper worship?
  3. In what ways are you tempted to separate science and faith, and how does this message challenge or encourage you?
  4. Do you ever struggle to believe that God is powerful enough to create and personal enough to care? Why or why not?

Hands & Feet Level Questions:

  1. What’s one way you can intentionally praise God this week for His creative power?
  2. Who in your life needs to hear this truth, and what would it look like for you to lovingly speak it with boldness and humility this week?
  3. Where in your life (home, work, parenting, school) do you need to stand firm in your beliefs against cultural pressure—and how can this truth about creation give you confidence?

Recap:

Tonight we explored how the universe reveals the fingerprints of God. From the beginning of time to the complexity of life and the spark of consciousness, everything points to a Creator who invites us into relationship. We were reminded that believing in God is not only reasonable—it leads to awe, worship, and mission. Our challenge is to remember, worship, share, and teach this truth to others with clarity and courage.

Closing Prayer Prompt:

(This is an opportunity to share some prayer requests. Highly encourage group members to share something they personally need prayer for. It’s easy to talk about others but you are trying to create an environment that is open and transparent so that people are in relationship and there is help to grow spiritually.)
