Wisdom Under Fire: Week 3

Wisdom Under Fire: Week 3

Perseverance Under Fire

THIS WEEK – WISDOM UNDER FIRE: PERSEVERANCE
Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego displayed perseverance by remaining determined over a great length of time and throughout a series of different circumstances.

1. Perseverance is a _________ and requires _________ .

2. Perseverance serves a __________ and comes with a _________ .

1 Peter 1:6-7 (NIV) – In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

Romans 2:6-8 (NIV) – 6God “will repay each person according to what they have done.”7To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. 8But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.

3. Perseverance is both in ____________ and in __________ .

HOW DO WE LIVE WISELY TODAY?
• Do not worry
Matthew 6:34 (NIV) – Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
• Pray & Petition
Daniel 6:10 (NIV) – Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.
• Fight for Relationship
Hebrews 3:12-14 (NIV) – 12See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. 14We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.

• Live Obediently: Love God and Others
John 14:5 (NIV) – “If you love me, keep my commands.
Matthew 22:37-40 (NIV) – Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Doing a Great Big thing one time amounts to having only done a little Great over time, whereas doing Little Great things over time amounts to having done a Great Big thing over time.
