The Real War: The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace
The Real War: Shoes of the Gospel Peace
Main Idea: The Gospel of Peace gives us stability, agility and mobility as we live our lives for Jesus.
Recap:
● “The Real War” is a look at the battle gear we have for the spiritual world and a spiritual war
● Each item is needed for “the whole armor. Today we focus on “The Shoes of Gospel Peace”
Ephesians 6:13-17 ESV
“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand
rm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, asshoes
for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstancestake up the shield of faith, with
which you can extinguish all the aming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet ofsalvation, and the sword of the Spirit,
which isthe word of God”
Think about shoes:
● Every day you put them on
● Every time it takes intentionality
● Shoes are all about purpose
Shoes for your spiritual feet are the “readiness given by the Gospel of peace”
Why do we need shoes?
1. Stability
Hebrews 13:8-9 ESV
“Jesus Christ isthe same yesterday and today and forever. Do not be led away by diverse and strange
teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace…”
● Stability: Jesus is unchanging and our source of salvation and strength
2. Agility
1 Peter 5:8-10 ESV
“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to
devour. Resist him, rm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds ofsuffering are being experienced by your
brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called
you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, conrm, strengthen, and establish you.”
● Agility: armor is useless if we don’t face the enemy
3. Mobility
Hebrews 12:12-14 ESV
“Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your
feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed. Strive for peace with
everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.”
Isaiah 52:7 NLT
“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news
of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns!”
● Mobility: We are Gospel “bringers” as His peace overows in our life
What Are the Enemy’s Tactics?
● Doubt of foundation: “Do you really believe this?”
● Catch you off guard in weakness: “Look, you are a fraud!”
● Move your eyes off God’s goodness: “You have nothing to offer…”
What Were Jesus’ Tactics? (Matthew 4:1-11)
● He Stood on the Truth of Scripture
● He Was Spiritually On Guard
● He Followed The Father’s Direction
