ALL IN: Week 1 – Jim Blazin

ALL IN: Week 1 – Jim Blazin

The ALL IN series is about God’s heart for stewardship, generosity, and finances in light of Kingdom living.

Jesus made it clear there is a Kingdom and He is the King.

John 18:36-37 (NIV) 36 Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place. 37“You are a king then!” said Pilate. Jesus answered, “You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”

1. LIVING AS A CHILD OF THE KING

Jesus as the Son was living a surrendered and obedient life to the Father.

John 6:32 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.

John 8:28 So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me.”

There is a direct connection between obedience and love. Our acts of obedience demonstrate our value of love.

John 14:15 If you love me, keep my commands.

God doesn’t need our obedience. He requires it because He has in mind what is best for us!

  1. WHY OBEDIENCE REQUIRES                                .

Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.

Surrender, obedience and sacrifice for the sake of surrender, obedience and sacrifice have little value. Their value lies in their purpose:

    • Rid us of disobedience, rebellion, pride, and sin.
    • Obedience reveals our motives.
    • To be obedient requires sacrifice.
    • Our sacrifices for the Kingdom express our love for the King.

A surrendered life comes out of obedience.

  1. Our for obedience is ultimately out of gratitude for His to us.
    • What is mercy? God not giving us what we deserve.
    • What is grace? God freely giving us favor when we don’t deserve it.

      • What is grace? God freely giving us favor when we don’t deserve it.
      • We have been saved from death! Our life is now not our own! We are to obediently give our lives away.
      • Sacrifice out of love is God’s idea and design. He gave Jesus away.

Romans 8:32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him,

      graciously give us all things?

“As long as you maintain control of your life, you will always be destined to get only what you can provide for your life.”

      – Chip Ingram, Living on the Edge

      4. OBEDIENTLY GIVING TO GOD IS OUR ULTIMATE FORM OF WORSHIP.

      • God sacrificed His best for us!
      • God wants our best, which is our all—our entire being for His purposes.
      • When we reflect His heart towards others, we are worshipping Him.

Offering our bodies as living sacrifices is part of being mature disciples. (Matthew 4:19)

      • It requires obediently surrendering ourselves to His will and following Him.
      • It requires trusting Him to change our hearts and motives.
      • It requires being committed to the mission of Christ.

We have been saved for a great purpose! To fulfill the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:18-20)

      • Our time, money and talents  our desires and which Kingdom we want to build. We are called to be generous people!
      • We have a huge opportunity to do the King’s work right here in the north where God has planted us!
      • Remember we worship God by loving what He loves—people.
      • We are called to steward our time, energy, and money for the Kingdom.

Mark 13:32-37 32 But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. 34 It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch.

35Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. 36If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. 37What I say to you, I say to everyone: “Watch!”

God owns it all, and He gives His property to stewards who manage it for the interest of the Master.
